Also known as Knitbone, Comfrey contains allantoin which helps new tissue growth - assisting in recovery from injuries including fractures, bruises, sprains, ulcers, wounds, joint inflammation, rheumatoid arthritis, swollen veins (phlebitis) and gout.
Also helpful for ulcerations in the GIT and dry lung complaints, Comfrey was traditionally used as a tea for upset stomach, ulcers, heavy menstrual periods, diarrhea, bloody urine, persistent cough, painful breathing (pleuritis), bronchitis, cancer, and chest pain (angina). It is also used as a gargle for gum disease and sore throat.
