Devil’s Club – Organic

OPLOPANAX HORRIDUS

Devil’s Club is a powerful botanical native to the cool, moist forests of the Pacific Northwest of North America. Recognised by its large, maple-like leaves and distinctive thorn-covered stems, it has a long history of traditional use among Indigenous peoples of Alaska and British Columbia.

Traditionally, the inner bark of the root and stem has been prepared as a decoction or infusion and used as a tonic and in traditional herbal preparations for a variety of purposes, including digestive, respiratory and general wellbeing support.

Devil’s Club is a particularly interesting plant botanically, containing a range of naturally occurring compounds including polyynes, lignans, glycosides and other constituents that have been investigated in laboratory research. Human clinical evidence, however, remains limited.

Herbal Wisdom

In traditional Western and Indigenous herbal practices, Devil’s Club is regarded as a strong, warming and restorative botanical. It is generally approached as a specialist herb rather than an everyday beverage herb.

How to Use

Devil’s Club root or bark is traditionally prepared as a decoction, allowing the tougher plant material to simmer gently in water.

Because Devil’s Club is a potent traditional medicinal herb, we recommend using it under the guidance of a qualified herbal practitioner, particularly for regular or therapeutic use.

Available in: 20, 50g and 100g

Important Information

For traditional herbal use only. Devil’s Club is a strong botanical and is not intended for casual or prolonged self-use. Consult a qualified herbal practitioner before use, particularly if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, take prescription medicines, or have an existing health condition.
